The attachment the inhabitants of the island have towards Menorca is more than simply where they were born. It is a bond, instinctively protective of paradise.
UNESCO declared the island a biosphere reserve in 1993, in recognition of the balance achieved between economic development, and conservation of the environment and of local traditions. Sustainability has long been significant in Menorca.
All island policies since the 1990s, in political, social, environmental and tourism matters, have been developed with the utmost concern for preserving the environment and protecting the countryside. This is an ongoing project, just like the Menorcan people love their island.

There is much more to Menorca than meets the eye. The island is cosmopolitan with a unique historical legacy. Its cultural heritage is imbued with the island’s particular character and is a permanent source of artistic inspiration; it is a culture that is to be enjoyed all year round.
To experience the island’s culture is to let yourself be carried away by your senses: to admire its stately architecture, to delight in listening to an opera, to surrender to the sound of live music played at concerts and festivals, to feel the anticipation when the curtain rises at the theatre, to marvel at works of art. Culture in Menorca is also about tasting the past and present in traditional dishes; it is about discovering local handicrafts; about visiting museums and immersing yourself in history.

In a breathtaking array of shades from white to dark grey, beaches and coves bejewel Menorca’s coastline. The natural beauty of their surroundings, the magnificent conservation of their eco-systems, and the undeniable majesty of the Mediterranean as it kisses the sand, make the beaches of Menorca an absolute paradise.
The infinite colours, textures, and atmospheres that characterise the island’s different beaches and coves make exploring the coast even more interesting. It’s certainly not a case of “seen one, seen them all”. Each beach and cove, every hidden corner, retain their essence of authenticity, unique and magnetic, which captivates the moment you set foot there.

Menorca is at the moment the focus of attention in the world of gastronomy. The island is becoming known as a foodie destination, both for its zero-kilometre seasonal produce, and for the number of gourmet chefs there now are on the island. Several food events are held every year, promoting a farm to fork strategy for local produce. Good food has always been appreciated here, even before Michelin stars were heard of on the island and recipes from bygone days have been reclaimed, upholding Menorca’s gastronomic heritage.
2022 is the year when the island's cuisine came into its own, when the island is declared European Region of Gastronomy. While keeping in view its culinary heritage, Menorca is taking its place at the forefront of avant-garde cuisine.
There are only two essentials to prepare good food: skilled hands and good quality ingredients. Menorcan kitchens abound with top-quality produce, be it meat from native breeds of livestock, seasonal locally grown organic vegetables or fish and seafood caught by local fishermen, local salt, cheese, wine and beer.
